In this example, the Red Circle piece bearing the Triangle symbol moves one space to the left, as indicated by the arrow, completing a scoring pattern.

By moving the Ace—the Red Circle piece bearing the Triangle symbol—the Red player completes the Diamondpattern and scores one point. Forming scoring patterns is the objective of SETO, and the first player to score seven points wins the game.

The objective of SETO is to score seven points by forming predefined scoring patterns. Of the 20 scoring patterns, 18are formed using four pieces of the same shape, while the remaining 2 require all eight pieces belonging to the same player. A pattern may be formed in any orientation—rotated, mirrored, upright, upside down, horizontally, vertically, or diagonally—as long as the arrangement matches one of the official scoring patterns. The first player to reach seven pointsimmediately wins the game and proudly declares "SETO!"
